NavigX Widget
Screen grab of the NavigX widget

Description

The NavigX Widget plugs into your OS X Dashboard and allows you to convert from Latitude/Longitude (Lat/Long) Coordinates to Ordnance Survey Grid References (OS Grid) and vice-versa.

Downloading

You can download the NavigX Widget here.

Instructions for Use

To use the widget, all you need to do is enter EITHER a Lat/Long OR an OS Grid and click the 'Convert' button. You'll see the result displayed pretty much instantaneously. The 'Reset' button clears all of the fields on the widget.

By default, NavigX calculates OS Grid References to 6-figure precision but you can go up to 10-figure precision if you really need to. To change the precision, hold your mouse pointer over the bottom-right of the widget and click on the 'i'. This flips the widget over and you can change the precision there.

Notes:

  1. Lat/Long coordinates are entered in the format: 59 26 12.345 N (for 59ยบ 26' 12.345" North).
  2. An Ordnance Survey Grid Reference is entered in the format NY995346; grid square followed by co-ordinates as 6, 8 or 10 figure grid reference.
  3. The Ordnance Survey Grid ONLY covers the United Kingdom!
  4. The United Kingdom is in the NORTHERN hemisphere...!

Fault Reporting

To report a fault with the NavigX Widget, complete this form.

As per notes 3 & 4, NavigX only covers the UK. It is NOT a fault of NavigX if it presents you with an error and you live in the southern hemisphere!!!
