From the onset, we wanted NavigX to be customisable by its users to suit the way they work. Where some users are happy with 6-figure OS Grids, others need 8- or 10-figure OS Grids. NavigX can be tailored to provide you with that flexibility all through its 'Preferences...' menu item in the NavigX menu.
Changing to your preferred precision is as easy as clicking the up and down arrows to the right of the field. You can select between 6-, 8- and 10-figure grid references. Once you've made your selection, just close the window and your preferences will be saved. NOTE: Preference selection only affects GENERATED OS Grid References. If you paste a 6-figure OS Grid and perform the conversion, NavigX will work off that OS Grid. If, however, you put in a precise Lat/Long coordinate, NavigX will generate an OS Grid Reference based on your Lat/Long and this precision figure. That's really all there is to altering the precision of NavigX. As NavigX is in a constant state of development, we wanted to provide its user base with a means of keeping up-to-date with the most recent versions of the software. That said, we are also aware that some users don't want to be alerted to the fact that there is new software available. So we have added in another Preferences Pane.
You can also select when you would like to know about available updates. If you untick this box, you will only be notified if there is a new version of NavigX available. Again, your preferences will be saved when you close the window. That's really about it for Preferences but the same methodology applies as to the rest of the software; if you'd like something changing or adding, please let us know. |
