Aside from the basic functionality of NavigX, we have built in a means to perform many conversions at once by means of a Comma Separated Values (CSV) File Import, Conversion and Export facility.  Again, we have tried to make it as easy to use as possible but, in case you get stuck, this is a step-by-step guide of how to do it.

First of all, you need to have your data for conversion in the correct format.  NavigX only handles CSV data at present but this will be expanded in the future based on user demand.  There are two sample CSV files available for download here.

Put simply, your CSV file needs two columns.  Lat/Long coordinates need to be in the FIRST column and OS Grid Refs need to be in the SECOND column.  Apologies if this seems a little clunky but this will become more automated and controllable in future releases.

NavigX - Batch Conversion WindowTo get started, all you need to do is click the 'File' menu and select 'Batch Conversion...'.

This should bring up a window along the lines of the screenshot to the left except, of course, yours won't have any data in it.  Yet.

To bring your CSV file into the window, all you need to do is click the 'Import' button and you'll be prompted to find your CSV file to import.  Find it, select it and click OK.

You should now see all of your coordinates for conversion listed.

NOTE: You CAN mix OS Grid Refs and Lat/Long coords in a CSV file provided that they are in their respective columns.

Once you're happy that this is the correct CSV file and all your coordinates are listed, just click the 'Convert' button and the conversion will start.

We've tested this with 100 Coordinate Sets on a MacBook and it only took a few seconds to complete so if you feel that it is taking too long to complete, please Contact Us as you may have found a bug.

Once your conversion has completed, you can then save the results.

The 'Export' button will provide you with that functionality and all you really need to do is select a destination for the exported file to reside in and click the OK button.  Your converted data is exported along with your original data, as a two-column CSV file, ready for import back into whatever application you need.

If you need to import more data, just click the 'Import' button and the current data will be wiped and your new data will take its place.

That is about as advanced as NavigX gets, really.  We do have several other features that we are working with.  Some users may have already noticed the GPS link in the File menu and there are others still to come.

NavigX has evolved through user feedback and we will continue to develop NavigX further to assist its users based on the feedback we receive.  Batch Conversion was added this way and there are several others that are currently in development that have been spawned as a result of direct requests from users.  So if there is something that NavigX doesn't do for you, please let us know.  If it can be done, we'll do our level best to get it integrated into the software for you.
