The NavigX Touch URL Scheme
User Rating: / 0
PoorBest

It is now possible to launch NavigX Touch from a web page or another iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch app using the URL Scheme.  Both NavigX Lite and Lakeland Fells use this URL scheme.

NavigX Touch handles several types of URL but by passing the data:

NGXTF154673

This particular example will cause NavigX Touch to open to the 'Convert' screen with the OS Grid Reference TF154673.  Indeed, you could use ANY grid reference type OSGB, OSI, MGRS, UTM, USNG and NavigX Touch automatically detects the type you've sent and displays it for you.  It doesn't, however, work with Latitude and Longitude. Yet.

For developers, to allow your app to hook into the URL Scheme, you just need something like the following line of code:

[[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"navigx:NGXTF154673"]];

We have been asked by several developers now to allow more to hook in to NavigX Touch and we're looking to see when these can be implemented.  At the moment, we're looking at v2.3 as the most likely opportunity to add in.
