Each fell can be viewed individually or on a map and each fell is accompanied by a Grid Reference of your choice. The fells can be represented in Ordnance Survey Grid References (OS Grid), Military Grid Reference System (MGRS), Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) or good old Latitude and Longitude. With Lakeland Fells, you can also keep a record of your ascents as well as adding your own photograph of the fell. View Assist is another iPhone first which allows you to see which fells are around you on 3 separate scales. Point your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 at the fell and you'll see the map rotate to show you what you are looking at. Clicking on each pin will show you the fell's name. Basic Navigation is also included which enables you to select a fell and get a basic bearing and range to it. If you're using an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, you'll also see your heading update to allow you to sight the fell. If you have NavigX Touch installed, you can even send a fell's coordinates to NavigX Touch and add them into your Waypoint Directory. Lakeland Fells is available on the App Store for £0.59 ($0.99) - cheaper than a bar of Kendal Mint Cake! |
